It has been three years since a virus forced lives around the world to change. The influence was also great in Japan. Above all, I had a very difficult time because all Japanese people wore a "mask" and could not see their "face". However, even with the threat of the virus, humans must continue to "eat and drink" as long as they live.

Aiming for that short amount of time, I continued to shoot “the face of a Japanese person without a mask''. Also, summer in Japan is very hot. Some Japanese people unintentionally remove their “masks”. I aimed at that moment like a hawk's eye and pressed the shutter.

Recently, the number of people walking without wearing a "mask" is gradually increasing, but the situation continues that the "face" of Japanese people cannot be seen because of the "mask". In addition, Japanese people are a race lacking in "individuality", so they dislike being photographed in everyday life other than the standard commemorative photo. It's difficult to capture the "face" of a Japanese people.

Overcoming that hurdle, this photobook is the sequel to my previous work "TOKYO FACE," which captures the "real faces of Japanese people." You will find that even Japanese people who don't like to express their emotions have very rich facial expressions. And I want you to imagine the "drama" of various Japanese people from the "face" photos I took.
